Roof flashing

How  long  do you expect a roof not to leak and if it does who should pay to fix  the roof?

Eave and Rake edges should have a metal drip a least 1 1/2 inch coverage on fascia board. We using Aluminum, copper, or galvanized

Walls and Chimneys should have a step flashing at the junction of roof shingles and wall structure. We use a min. of 26 gauge metal  4x4x7 inches min.

Plumbing vents should have a vent flashing boot. We recommend for the longest leak preventive to using a Lead Flashing.

Valleys should have a least a 36 inch liner under the roofing shingles or metal . We using 90LB., metal "W" bended , or a peel and stick , or Modified membrane.

Skylights should have a flashing system with the unit , if not we suggest a step flashing system on sloped roofs and a curb mount on flat or low sloped roofs.

Heat vents flashing should be made of a galvanized and have a roof flange that is sloped as the roof.

Chimneys have many different concerns such as siding or stucco, or is it brick . The main thing to remember is this area needs to have the best flashing installation
with quality products to assure no leaks over the life time of your new roof system. Also the chimney chase should have a cap that prevent water from deteriorating the exterior materials as well as keeping birds and other wild life from setting up house in side the chimney.
